Student Volunteers

So you’d like to make a difference in the world….

Students and young adults possess a huge capacity to give and to really make a difference in the world. We see it everyday at Shepherd’s Table. Folks come for a variety of reasons: some out of a requirement, some simply because their heart is urging them to share their gifts and talents with others. All are welcome here!

Shepherd’s Table is delighted to have students and young adults who choose to complete required service hours with us. We also often have youth who do required service hours for a religious requirement such as Confirmation (students must be at least 13 years old). Boy Scouts and Girl Scout also seek us out to complete a service requirement such as the Eagle Scout Award. We welcome youth and young adults to join us in our mission. We simply ask for a willing and open heart, a generous spirit and advanced planning.

If students wait until the last minute to fill out the volunteer application, it is very difficult to schedule hours. Submitting the application well in advance will be of great help to us and will give the student the best possibility of completing hours in a timely fashion.

  • Students must be 13 years old or older, but 13-15 year-old volunteers should be accompanied by an adult.
  • While the volunteer dress code is casual, we ask that you please not wear revealing clothing, skirts or shorts that stop above the knee, sleeveless shirts, or shirts that expose your midriff. Additionally, please do not wear clothes with political/religious messages. This volunteer opportunity is in a professional setting, and we want to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone. Lastly, all volunteers must wear close toed, non-slip shoes.
  • Come prepared to work.

Shepherd’s Table will give you the opportunity to carry out your mission, and fulfill your Oath.

DUTY TO OTHER PEOPLE: Many people need help. A cheery smile and a helping hand make life easier for others. By doing a Good Turn daily and helping when you’re needed, you prove yourself a Scout and do your part to make this a better world.
